An image is supplied to the client on the understanding that certain conditions (licenses) are attached to that image. Primarily the copyright of the image belongs to 'Eric Whitehead Photography' and this is never transferred except under a specific agreement with the copyright holder.
By purchasing an image, the client in effect 'hires or rents' that image for use on their project and the image is released on condition that the image is used only for the purpose detailed in the license agreement.

Managed License

Images supplied under a license granting rights outside of the criteria of 'editorial' or 'personal' use are classed under a 'Managed License'. Specifically this means that rights to use the image are given covering a large range of criteria. These can include such specifics as the size the image will be used in the publication or project, the duration of its use, its position in the project or publication, the print run and the geographic distribution that the publication or project is expected to run in. Certain images in the library may have restrictions attached to them permitting only specific use and it may be necessary for the client to obtain their own intellectual property rights from the player in the photograph. All images are all available for 'editorial' use but may be restricted on other rights.
At the time that you request to use the image then all these specifics will be taken into account in determining the cost and availabilty of the license.

Editorial Use

The license for editorial rights is supplied on a 'payment by use' basis. To use an image for editorial purposes the client accepts that it cannot be used outside the criteria - that the image will be used to accompany an article in an 'editorial' media, such as newspapers, magazines or other editorial media.
The client accepts that image cannot be used outside the 'editorial' concept. If you wish to use an image for non-editorial use you must contact Snookerimages to gain rights for the intended use.
Snookerimages also accepts that images acquired or supplied for "editorial" use may be retained in the library of the publication / company as 'stock' for future use. In which case payment is made for each use according to the rates of the publication, which will previously have been agreed with Snookerimages.

Reference Use

Snookerimages will allow clients to use digital images for 'reference' for a single minimal fee ( depending on the extent of their requirement ) for a limited duration. Such criteria are images that are to be used for layout, design, client representation or production proofs. The images will have no rights granted for final production ( internal or external ), publication or any commercial use. Such examples of this, are images that may be used for a more detailed examination to access its suitability for a project or for creating a design for proof presentations to a client for acceptability.

Personal Use

This license allows the use of the image for personal use only. There are no rights granted for commercial use in any form whatsoever, neither can the image be used in any published work ( printed or internet ). It is intended soley for use as personal product. Examples of this would be the purchase of an image as a print for private display in the home. This license also allows use in snooker clubs and halls that are specific to that purpose and not as displays in other commercial venues, such as shops, pubs etc.
